Penlan v Cwmgors 11 November 2017

PENLAN SETTLE FOR A LOSING BONUS POINT FROM ANOTHER CLOSE GAME

Penlan had another close game at home against Cwmgors on Saturday as they continue to suffer from a reduced pool of players. It was a close and low scoring game with Penlan trailing 3 - 6 at half time, Cwmgors having slotted two penalties at 7 and 25 minutes and Paul Spowart landing one for Penlan at 12 minutes.  Things started badly for Penlan in the second half when the visitors landed a corner try at just 4 minutes, followed by two penalties at 15 and 25 minutes to give them a 3 - 17 lead.   As ever, Penlan never let their heads drop as they had continued to fight back and at 33 minutes they had a penalty that they made the most of and attacked the line.  Second-row Kurt Velardo powered over for a great try which Paul Spowart converted to gain Penlan a final losing bonus point from a 10 - 17 score.  These are difficult times for Penlan who now rely on the loyalty and dedication of their core players and coaching staff.  Despite lying at the bottom of the league though they continue to give a good account of themselves.   Although they have the home advantage for their next two games they will still present a challenge but Penlan will do their utmost to rise to the occasion.
